Home Safety
Smoking and vaping remain common in society, but both can create challenges in the workplace. From health concerns and legal restrictions to fairness around breaks and respect between colleagues, it is important that every employee understands their responsibilities.
UK law makes it clear that enclosed workplaces and vehicles must be smoke-free, but vaping is not always covered in the same way. This can lead to confusion, so many organisations develop their own policies to set clear expectations. Beyond legal duties, employers have a responsibility to protect the wellbeing of their staff, and employees must follow rules designed to keep the working environment safe and comfortable for everyone.
This course will explore the laws, health considerations, and good practices relating to smoking and vaping at work.
By the end of this course, learners should be able to:
- Understand the legal requirements around smoking and vaping at work.
- Recognise the health risks associated with smoking, vaping, and second-hand exposure.
- Identify employer and employee responsibilities.
- Apply workplace rules and good practices relating to designated areas, breaks, and conduct.
- Promote a respectful and safe working environment for all.
