Company Car Drivers Guide

Company Car Drivers Guide

Driving is the most dangerous work activity that an employee can do. Research indicates that about 20 people are killed and 250 seriously injured every week in crashes involving someone who was driving or otherwise using the road for work purposes.

HSE Guidelines for employers, ‘Driving at Work’, states that “The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to take appropriate steps to ensure the health and safety of their employees and others who may be affected by their activities when at work. There will always be risks associated with driving. Although these cannot be completely controlled, an employer has a responsibility to take all reasonable steps to manage these risks and do everything reasonably practicable to protect people from harm in the same way as they would in the workplace.”

This course is applicable to anyone who drives as a part of their work whether that is a company car or van. It does not cover commuting or large goods vehicles but several of the topics covered in this training also applies to those scenarios.
